During a premier for the Italian debut of Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Inception, the director talked about the future of the property. While not discussing the possibility of any potential sequels to the film, Nolan does have plans to let the franchise live on through a possible video game spin-off. From what Nolan teased, an Inception game would be set in the same world and feature the same technology and themes, but it would not simply be a video game adaptation of the movie.
“We are looking at doing is developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film,” Nolan said at press conference in Rome, according to Variety. “That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years.”
Nolan did not mention specifics about the possible game, such as a developer or publisher he has his eye on, but with the Hollywood clout Nolan now carries with him, he will likely have several options.
Inception has currently grossed $753 million worldwide in theaters since its debut on July 8. The DVD and blu-ray are rumored to be released on December 6, but that is unconfirmed.
