Activision has shown off the gameplay reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II as part of Summer Game Fest. The trailer features a first look at the game in action and follows a group of operatives infiltrating a ship in the middle of the ocean.

There’s still a lot left to show, but based on the trailer above, it’s clear that developer Infinity Ward is leaning into nostalgia. The ship itself is reminiscent of the Wetwork map from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The opening level of that game also features a similar ship infiltration.

Modern Warfare II serves as a follow-up to 2019’s Modern Warfare, and according to Infinity Ward Studio Aart director Joel Emslie,  is the most “ambitious, beautiful, bombastic, melt-your-face-off game” the studio has ever created.

Infinity Ward, which has worked on Call of Duty games since 2003, is best known for its work on the Modern Warfare subseries. Modern Warfare is arguably the most popular Call of Duty series, and kicked off with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007. The series continued its success through the years, leading to Modern Warfare (2019), which had a massive audience, bringing back longtime fans while attracting a new audience.

But that isn’t the only thing Infinity Ward has up its sleeve. The company will also develop the next iteration of Warzone alongside Modern Warfare II, which is gearing up to launch sometime in 2022.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 28, 2022.

The debate around GTA 6's "physical" edition just got another twist. Rockstar has confirmed on its official website that PS5 download codes included with physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI sold in Japan will expire 170 days after the game's November 19, 2026 launch date. That means players who don't redeem the code before roughly May 8, 2027 could be left with nothing more than an empty game box, even though they purchased a physical copy. The company says the policy is required due to regional regulations in Japan.

Fresh off launching a metallic Hall-effect keyboard and a 59g gaming mouse for flashy esports setups, Lenovo has turned its attention to gamers working with much tighter budgets. The Legion 24-1r looks made for broke college students who spent way too much on their first gaming rig and now have instant noodles doing most of the heavy lifting at dinner. It costs just 669 yuan, equivalent to around $99, yet offers a 23.8-inch IPS panel running at up to 280Hz.

Lenovo is also offering the 27-inch Legion 27-1r with the same core specifications for 789 yuan, or roughly $116. For the ramen-budget crowd chasing competitive frame rates, both look like seriously tempting deals. (via NotebookCheck)
