Well, it was bound to happen. The zombies of Dead Island could be leaving the tropical island of Banoi and shambling their way toward, well… the world.
As reported by Siliconera, Dead Island developer Techland has filed a U.S. trademark for the title “Dead World.”
And while the company has declined to comment on whether this will be the official title for the sequel to this year’s hit zombie-killing RPG, it certainly seems to fall in line with the natural evolution of popular game franchises. After all, if Batman can go from Arkham Asylum to Arkham City, why can’t the zombies go from Dead Island to Dead World?
Of course, if the trademark on “Dead World” indeed proves to be the harbinger of a Dead Island sequel, the game’s developer faces an interesting challenge: how to come up with a teaser as good as — or better than — the wildly popular video that made the first game a best-selling title.
