It seems wild that no one else did it sooner – mixing the gameplay of a life-sim like Animal Crossing with well-known characters from Disney’s huge list of franchises. Still, not only is Disney Dreamlight Valley here on console and PC, but it’s been getting regular updates in the years since launch, too.
New characters, quests, and customization options have made the game even better, but one thing players have been asking for is more multiplayer options. A December 2023 update allowed players to quest with friends, but what about cross-platform play?
Here’s all we know at the time of writing.
Is Disney Dreamlight Valley cross-platform?
In the past, the answer to this question has been complicated because PlayStation players (on PS4 and PS5) were frozen out of the cross-play fun while Xbox, Switch, and PC players could have fun together. Thankfully, Gameloft rectified this with the Dapper Delights patch in August 2024, meaning you can play across all platforms with friends now – a huge boost to the game’s long-term prospects of fostering a community (as if the Disney IP wasn’t enough).
As a reminder, you’ll need to unlock Vanellope in your game to get the ball rolling on multiplayer, since it’s not unlocked right from the jump. Once you’ve met her, you can get the KL-1200 Valley Visit Station to be able to allow you to invite players to your valley or head to someone else’s.
On the other hand, cross-progression (also known as cross-save) is enabled for all platforms – hooray! This means that as long as you link your console or PC account to your Gameloft login, you’ll be able to jump onto any platform and pick up where you left off.
As for what’s next for the game, the Wishblossom Ranch expansion is coming on November 19. It’ll add Snow White, Tinker Bell, Cruella De Vil and Tigger, while also bringing in horses as mounts that include Maximus and Pegasus.
Dreamlight Valley will also hold a “Winter Ball” on December 10, introducing Cinderella to the game. This update is free for everyone.
