Altec Lansing MX5021 XM Satellite System

The MX5021 speaker system consists of two polished, piano-black, desktop-sized satellite speakers and a matching subwoofer that deliver crisp, THX-certified, cinema-quality sound. The system produces full, rich audio with crystal-clear highs and big bass, courtesy of two midrange drivers per satellite, a horn-loaded tweeter, and the woofer’s baritone capabilities.

The docking cradle houses the Roady or Roady 2, plus a control pod that permits bass, treble and master volume adjustment. The cradle itself plugs into the subwoofer, and the system also includes a wireless remote for volume control flexibility.

An auxiliary input jack in the back of the subwoofer can be used to hook the MX5021 speaker system up to your PC, TV or DVD/CD/MP3 player. Color-coded cables and spring-clip connectors offer fast plug-and-play connectivity, the satellites can be wall-mounted, and a headphone jack is included for private listening.

Altec Lansing’s MX5021/Roady Home Listening System is available online at www.alteclansing.com or www.xmradio.com for $199.

Best streaming devices for 2024: Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and more
An Apple TV 4K sits on a media stand.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the former group of people. Smart TVs come with built-in operating systems like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or Google TV running the show, in which case you're well-covered. And bespoke TV operating systems — like LG's webOS, Samsung's Tizen, or even Vizio's Home Screen/Smartcast — have gotten better in recent years.

Formovie’s new Xming Episode One projector is $299 worth of compact cuteness
The Xming Episode One projector by Formovie.

Formovie, the Chinese projector maker that made a splash a couple of years ago with its excellent Formovie Theater UST projector, today announced that preorders are now open for its new, affordable compact 1080p projector, the adorable $299 Xming Episode One.

Falling under Formovie's independent sub-brand, Xming, the Episode One should fit in nicely with the portable projector set. Its lightweight and diminutive design -- it weighs 2.8 pounds and measures 6.9 by 4.8 by 5.6 inches -- makes it great for backyard movie nights.
