Amp’d Goes to Hollywood for Original Goods

Amp’d Mobile today said they were in collaboration with a number of Hollywood producers to create a huge collection of original mobile content for its viewers. Shows previously produced by these partners include Late Night with David Letterman and Project Greenlight.

This original content, Amp’d Mobile said, will incorporate various wireless features such as location-based and video that the company offers. The new partners include Bunim Murray, who developed MTV’s Real World and is working to bring existing reality shows into the mobile and blog space with Amp’d, as well as develop and produce original mobile series targeted for deployment in Q1 2006; Late Night writer Donick Cary, who is working on development and production of six animated and scripted original programs set to debut in the first half of 2006; Qunicy Jones’ QD3 Productions, who will be providing documentary style footage of hip hop stars; and the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck company LivePlanet, who will create a location-based mobile game that brings together social networking and entertainment in a “Hunt & Capture” style competition based game early next year.

“Amp’d has partnered with proven creators of reality and scripted television to create the largest offering of original content for the mobile entertainment space,” explained Seth Cummings, senior vice president, wireless content & Internet services for Amp’d Mobile. “By collaborating with Emmy-award winning producers to originate programming that combines scripted storylines with interactive, user-submitted content and mobile-specific features, our members will participate in pioneering an entirely new category of entertainment — that can be found only on Amp’d. We believe original content will be a big selling point of our mobile entertainment service, and the wireless space in general. The entertainment industry has already acknowledged the impact of mobile content, having created a new Emmy category for this burgeoning genre.”

Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
