MTV, Sprint Announce Content Deal

MTV and Sprint today announced they’d teamed to bring video and audio content to the latter’s cellular network. Content will be drawn specifically from CMT, MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central.

Under the terms of the arraignment, said the two organizations, select clips from MTV Networks programs as “CMT Insider”, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”, “Laguna Beach” and “Best Week Ever” will be made available for on-demand viewing as part of the Sprint TV line up. In addition, the domestic wireless service will also stream audio from the CMT, MTV and VH1 radio stations and receive original made-for-mobile content.

“Sprint continues to lead the industry in bringing the best lineup of entertainment and mobile content to our customers,” said Jeff Hallock, vice president of wireless product strategy and marketing for Sprint. “Now our customers have the flexibility to view compelling programming from CMT, Comedy Central, MTV and VH1. They can also listen to streaming audio channels from CMT, MTV and VH1 – a service that currently only Sprint offers to its customers.”

The Rabbit R1 is hiding a big secret
The Rabbit R1 standing upright on a wooden railing with its display turned on.

“This is supposed to be a simpler companion to my phone, yet the R1 often tells me to use my phone when asking it to do the most basic of tasks,” wrote Digital Trends’ Section Editor Joe Maring after taking the Rabbit R1 out for a spin. The biggest flaw here is not a slow interface or lack of functions, but what it adds to an average user's life on a day-to-day basis.

At this stage, it's not much, primarily because a budget Android phone can do the same tasks with apps — be it AI chores like summarizing an email chain or ordering a burger. "This could've been an AI app at best." That's a recurring theme in the online forums about the R1. And it seems the R1 itself proves that point.
