Google Android Phones Debut Is it the wave of the future? Several manufacturers seem to think so, because they were showing mobile phones using the Google Android software yesterday at theMobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Texas Instruments and Qualcomm are among the dozen companies with prototype handsets using the software on display. Developed by a group of companies, including Google, Android is afree software system based on Linux open-source that was launched last November. Developers have access to the code that underlies the software, allowing many people to work on applications. Thefirst handsets using it are expected to hit the market later this year. Ian Drew of ARM told the BBC that the phone on display was just a prototype. "What we are demonstrating on the Android platform is maps, browser, camera applications, multimedia, e-mail, and calendar – basically everything you’d expect on a mobile phone." Indeed, open-source might be the wave of the future for phones. Limo, the new software from the Mobile Linux Foundation, will debut at 3GSM, it wasannounced, with seven manufacturers, including Samsung and LG, offering 18 different devices.

How to turn off call forwarding on iPhone and Android

If you’re mysteriously missing calls on your iPhone or Android smartphone, it may be because call forwarding is activated on your line. In that case, all your incoming calls could be going somewhere else.

Call forwarding shouldn’t typically be active unless you’ve specifically turned it on, but another person or app may have done so without your knowledge. And so concludes the saga of Google Pixel 8a leaks, merely days ahead of its expected unveiling at the I/O developers conference. Earlier today, insider @OnLeaks (in collaboration with Smartprix) shared more marketing renders of the upcoming budget phone, complete with its asking price in tow.

It seems Google is going to charge $499 for its next phone, at least the 128GB base storage variant, that is. For the 256GB storage variant, buyers will have to shell out $599. That’s the same asking price as the Google Pixel 7a, which arrived last year and won plaudits for its terrific mix of raw firepower, camera prowess, and feature-loaded Pixel software experience.
