Mobile accessory and case maker Targus has announced its new Zip-Thru 15.4″ Corporate Traveler Laptop Case, designed to enable travelers to get through airport security without having to remove their notebook computers from their bags. The new bag is designed to meet new guidelines established by the Transportation Security Administration—many laptop case vendors are rushing to get compliant bags on the market, led by Mobile Edge and Skooba.
Targus’s Zip-Thru bag is based on the company’s existing Corporate Traveler line. “Our Corporate Traveler line is already a favorite case among business travelers, and adding the new Zip-Thru feature makes it a must-have for anyone who travels with a laptop,” said Targus’s VP of marketing Al Giazzon, in a statement.
The Zip-Thru bag is made from ballistic 1680 denier nylon, and splits down the center so—when the bag is unzipped and laid flat—the laptop is isolated on one side while cables, peripherals, and other gear are on the other, making for a clear X-ray at security stations. While the bag cannot guarantee all travelers will pass through checkpoints without having their notebooks inspected, the bag should help many get through airport security more quickly.
The first Zip-Thru case will be available in black this October for a suggested price of $99.99.
