NEC Lights Up Two New Projectors

NEC Display Solutions has announced two new projectors aimed at the corporate and education markets where the ability to quickly set up a projector—and tear it down again without burning your hands—are of prime importance. The new NP41 and NP61 provide 2300 and 3000 lumens of brightness, respectively, and offer one-touch image optimization for getting up and running in a hurry. Even better, they’re quiet, putting out just 32db of sound while running in ECO mode.

"The NP41 and NP61 projectors provide the powerful features required by mobile users while remaining lightweight and cost-effective," said NEC Display Solutions product manager Rich McPherson, in a statement. "Their automatic features deliver the technological innovation expected of NEC products, delivering bright and brilliant images."

The projectors run at XGA (1,024 by 768 pixel) resolution, offer a contrast ratio of 1,600:1, and weigh just 3.5 pounds. The units sport 15-pin RGB, RCA, and S-Video inputs, a six-segment color wheel that improves brightness and color fidelity, and an AutoSense system that "intuitively" syncs the projector with most computer video signals and offers one-touch optimization. Further, the units’ ECO mode increases lamp life up to about 3,500 hours, a 40 percent improvement.

The NP61 should ship in September for a suggested price of $1,399; the NP41 will follow in October with a suggested price of $999.

GE is expanding the capabilities of its smart lights, with Matter support, new product launches, and improved functionality all arriving throughout this year. The news dropped during CES 2023, with GE Lighting revealing not just new smart lights, but also an intriguing integration with Schlage smart locks.

Matter integration might be the most exciting announcement from GE, although we still don’t have specific dates for its arrival. The company did mention that Matter compatibility will be coming to the GE Lighting lineup throughout 2023. The team did reveal, however, that the Cync Full Color Direct Connect Smart Bulb and the Cync Indoor Smart Plug will be the first to receive Matter-compatible versions. Unfortunately, previously produced Cync gadgets are not expected to receive an over-the-air update adding Matter support.
