A new leak for the Galaxy S5 Zoom has surfaced, possibly confirming previously leaked specs for the upcoming phone/digital camera hybrid. If the leaked shot is to be believed, Samsung’s next Android phone/camera hybrid will have a 20-megapixel camera with 10x zoom. This support previous leaks, such as one that came in form of jotted down notes from a meeting in Poland. The source of the leak, which declared that the new device will usher in “the death of compact cameras,” also referred to the phone with a different name, the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom.
The new image, a close-up view of the phone’s backside, shows that the new Zoom will do a better job of hiding the camera lens when not in use. The previous version of the phone, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, had a protruding camera lens, which offered an obstacle for comfortably gripping the phone.
According to earlier leaks, the phone is expected to have Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 20-megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom, a 1.6GHz quad-core chip, a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display of 720p pixel resolution, 2GB total RAM, a Xenon flash, and optical image stabilization.
The Galaxy S5 Zoom, or whatever it ends up being called, may be announced in May. If you want to check out the site containing the leaked image, click here.
