EA shows off next Mirror’s Edge, renews focus on elegance

The next Mirror’s Edge doesn’t have a release date, we did get to see a developer diary talking about the DICE-developed game during EA’s E3 press conference.

The video showed off some of Faith’s new moves, which now include the ability to round corners while wall-running by grabbing onto nearby pipes. In addition, DICE is designing the game to allow players to choose between taking faster, more dangerous routes or easy, longer ones.

With the new game, DICE wants to strive for seamlessness, as the conceptual prototype footage showed Faith can leap off walls, attack enemies, and continue without breaking her stride. DICE also wants to focus on why Faith does what she does and who Faith is while giving her a slight redesign.

As previously mentioned, EA did not reveal when Mirror’s Edge would be released, though more information on the game will surely be revealed as time passes.

3 underrated Xbox Game Pass titles to play this weekend (May 31-June 2)

We're right on the precipice of June, which will be chock-full of new game announcements from every publisher. In fact, that wave already started with Sony's May 30 State of Play. Still, just because this time of year is mainly focused on video game announcements doesn't mean you shouldn't be playing anything new. If you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber in particular, there are three titles you can have a great time with this weekend.

For those excited about Until Dawn's PC and PS5 remake, I recommend you check out developer Supermassive Games' previous narrative title, which is actually available through Game Pass. The other two games are new to the service. One is a Soulslike that was nearly a decade in the making, but paid off that wait by being an impressive title that stands toe-to-toe with FromSoftware's work. The other is one of 2023's best games, a puzzler that will make you think more deeply about how people interact with each other.

3 excellent PS Plus games to try this weekend (May 31-June 2)

Hot off the heels of a new State of Play presentation, you’re probably itching to play some games on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 this weekend. If you’re a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscriber, you certainly are spoiled for choice. As May turns into June and we continue the season of game reveals, there are three titles available on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers that I want to highlight.

One is a fun sandbox crime game and one of the most popular video games of all time, but it’s leaving PS Plus soon. The next is the complete version of an excellent samurai action game that is worth playing in the wake of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ announcement. Finally, you can play through a narrative adventure horror game that’s getting a remake later this year.
