SCG 003 supercar could get a twin-turbo V12 to match its bona fide racing pedigree

After commissioning Ferrari to build a pair of one-off supercars, Jame Glickenhaus has decided to go it alone.

His SCG 003 will feature a carbon-fiber chassis, but that’s about all that is certain regarding this automotive indulgence.

Glickenhaus plans to enter the completed car in next year’s Nurburgring 24-hour race, and the latest report from Motor Authority claims this version will use a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 loosely based on a Honda Performance Development design.

However, that’s just the start. The road-going SCG 003 will reportedly pack a twin-turbocharged V12. Combined with the lightweight chassis, Glickenhaus believes it could offer a Koenigsegg One:1-rivalling power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per kilogram (2.2 pounds).

However, unlike the One:1 and hyper-exotic cars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder, the SCG 003 will have a bona fide racing pedigree. The racing and road versions are undergoing development simultaneously, although strict rules may keep the car out of a lot of race series.

How much will all of that power and pedigree cost? The SCG 003 is expected to start at roughly $2.7 million for the road car, while the racing version could cost up to $1.32 million more (only two examples are planned so far).

The SCG 003 will initially be offered in the supercar-happy Middle East, China, and Europe. U.S. sales are a possibility as well.

The front three-quarter view of a 2022 Rivian against a rocky backdrop.

Rivian has finally unveiled the R2, its long-awaited attempt at a more affordable electric SUV. The new vehicle may not be available just yet, but fans of Rivian's design aesthetics and feature set are already looking forward to being able to order the new car. The R2 is targeted at being a more affordable take on the electric SUV and will sit alongside the flagship-tier R1S.

Let's get this out of the way right now: The R1S is most likely going to be a better vehicle than the R2. Rivian isn't replacing the R1S with the R2 — it's releasing the R2 as a more affordable alternative, and there will be some compromises when buying the R2 over the R1S.

Don’t let the gimmicks fool you. The Ioniq 5 N is a serious track car
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N drifting.

We’re finally getting to the fun part of automakers’ methodical quest to replicate their lineups with electric cars.

Performance versions of ordinary cars have been a staple of the auto industry for decades. But while we’ve already seen some variants of EVs boasting more power and more impressive stats — think Tesla Model S Plaid or Lucid Air Sapphire — the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first to truly apply that format to an EV.
