Bayonetta 2 kicks into hair-witch action on October 24

The long wait for Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2‘s release date is finally over. Nintendo confirmed a long list of holiday 2014 releases, and the stylish Platinum Games brawler is due to arrive on October 24 in North America.

Bayonetta 2 was first revealed during a Nintendo Direct back in September 2012. It delivers the same mix of combo-driven melee and ranged combat, somewhat in the style of the Devil May Cry series. The game picks up some months after the events of the previous release, with Bayonetta venturing into Hell to rescue a friend that’s been taken away by demons (video games, y’all).

The first Bayonetta was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It never made its way to Nintendo’s Wii console, but the Wii U release that’s coming in October also includes a port of the first game.

After the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita, there wasn't much hope that Sony would create another handheld system. However, it does leave a lot to be desired for those hoping for a bit more from a new PlayStation device. Should Sony decide to iterate on this novel idea, there are a few features we think it needs to have to be a true success.

We're not going to ask Sony to completely overhaul what it established with the PlayStation Portal. For as much as we'd love for a fully dedicated handheld like a Vita 2, that's just too far beyond what we can hope for.

Smite 2 Founder’s Editions available now, closed alpha coming in May

Smite 2 Founder's Editions are now available for purchase on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC -- but there's a catch: the game won't be playable until its first closed alpha weekend next month.

Smite 2 developer Titan Forge has confirmed that the MOBA's first closed alpha weekend is coming sometime this May, and that the only way to access this early look at the game is by purchasing a Founder's Edition, available starting today.
