Play Forza Motorsport 5 for free all weekend long

Add as a preferred source on Google

So you’ve got an Xbox One and you’re dreading the final long weekend before Bungie’s Destiny arrives to break the summer release drought. What to do? Well, if you’re an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, why not go play Forza Motorsport 5 for free?

Microsoft is giving all Gold subscribers free access to the Turn 10 Studios launch title for Xbox One, starting at 12:01am PT on September 4 (that means it’s live as of this post’s publish) and running until 11:59pm PT on Sunday, September 7. Microsoft says the promo is meant to hype fans up for the September 30 launch of Forza Horizon 2, but the imminent arrival of Destiny no doubt plays into the timing.

There are no limits in terms of what you can access during the free weekend; this is the full game. Simply head to the Xbox Games Store on your Xbox One console, find Forza 5, and download it. Any progress you make is yours to keep, though you’ll need to buy the game if you want to play beyond the free weekend.

The promotion also connects to a contest that includes a three-day trip to the Forza Motorsport Grand Prix Road Racing Class in Arizona; you can read more about that in Microsoft’s Xbox Wire post.

Artificial intelligence is often blamed for making people less social. Whether it's AI replacing conversations, reducing teamwork, or making gaming feel less human, the narrative has largely remained the same. But a new study suggests the opposite could also be true. In fact, AI might be quietly encouraging people to spend more time with their friends.

Researchers studying PUBG: Battlegrounds have found that introducing AI-controlled opponents into multiplayer matches didn't isolate players. Instead, it made them more confident, kept them playing longer, and even encouraged them to squad up with friends more often. The findings, which will appear in the journal Information Systems Research, offer an interesting perspective on how AI can improve user experiences rather than simply automating them.
