Sony’s waterproof, wirelessly charging Xperia Z3V lands on Verizon Oct. 23

The Xperia Z3 is coming to Verizon! Now named the Xperia Z3V, the phone has a few enhancements over its international sibling.

For those who have already gotten their hands on the Xperia Z3, the experience will be a familiar one. The handset, fresh from being announced last month, sports a sizable 5.2-inch LCD screen, with a pixel-dense 1080 x 1920 resolution. It’s powered by 3GB of RAM and a 2.5GHz quad-core processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 801. 32GB of internal storage will be available, and the Xperia Z3V will run Android 4.4.4. The Sony smartphone is also water resistant, rating IP 65/68, which means the Xperia Z3V can be submerged for 30 minutes in one or two meters of water, respectively.

New with the Xperia Z3V is an improved battery over its European counterpart. The Xperia Z3V offers a 3,200mAh embedded battery, and comes with a new way to power up: Wireless charging. Verizon’s version of the Xperia Z3 will feature Qi wireless charging and will come with a wireless charging plate to bring the device back up to full battery.

For Verizon customers giddy to get their hands on this Americanized Android device, the Sony Xperia Z3V will be available starting October 23, 2014. Prices start at $200 on contract through Verizon.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
