It takes a lot to make a car stand out. From deep, glossy candy to stark matte, it seems like virtually every paint color and finish has been done before.
Well, not quite. This Nissan Skyline GT-R R33’s eye-popping graphics were created by the owner’s girlfriend, with a Sharpie.
That’s right, no fancy paint booth required. It all started when the car’s owner decided to repaint the Skyline.
He let his girlfriend cover a few scratches on the front bumper, thinking he would repaint the car anyway. One thing led to another, and soon the entire front end was covered in an elaborate design.
Things snowballed from there. the GT-R was disassembled, and every body panel was gone over with Sharpie, the entire process taking around 100 hours.
The finished car was then covered in clear coat to preserve the artwork. It’ll be interesting to see how Sharpie ink weathers the sun and other conditions automotive paint is normally subjected to, but for now this GT-R is truly one of a kind.
