James Glickenhaus, the car collector and investment banker whose passion for exotic automobile design resulted in projects like the Pininfarina-styled P4/5, has released a trickle of details teasing his latest car to come out of his own coachbuilding studio: the SCG 003. At the start of the project, Glickenhaus said ” We’re thinking [carbon fiber] tub, a [twin-turbo V6] and a very sexy shape.” We know he’s a man who gets what he wants.

The new project car won’t be built on any existing platform, but will be constructed from scratch, based off of a bespoke chassis, powered by a twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine. The intent is to take the custom vehicle the Nürburgring 24 hour endurance race. In this teaser image, we see the shape of it coming along under the contours of the sheet, with just a bit of front nose poking out, hinting at what the rest will look like.

The former film director and current investment banker states that his love of modifying vehicles started back when he modified a Lola T 70 to be road legal and stable enough to endure common traffic without overheating. Years later, he commissioned famed coachbuilders Pininfarina to help convert his Ferrari Enzo to the P4/5, a modern tribute to the 1967 Ferrari 330 P3/4 race car. Ferrari liked it so much, they even allowed him to badge the car with its distinguished logo.

That Ferrari badge came right off when he modified the P4/5 in-house as Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to become the P4/5 Competizione, which went on win a host of races, including taking home the FIA Alternate Cup trophy. After adding a KERS, a kinetic energy recovery system that converts usually wasted brake energy into power for quick boosts, he came to the conclusion that the next generation of hypercars were losing their way, being too heavy and complex.

“What if I stepped back? Simpler. Lighter. Smaller? ” says Glickenhaus, on his website. This is where the idea of the 003, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’s third one-off road car was born. Today’s little tease has us more than a little excited for the car’s full reveal at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show.

The front three-quarter view of a 2022 Rivian against a rocky backdrop.

Rivian has finally unveiled the R2, its long-awaited attempt at a more affordable electric SUV. The new vehicle may not be available just yet, but fans of Rivian's design aesthetics and feature set are already looking forward to being able to order the new car. The R2 is targeted at being a more affordable take on the electric SUV and will sit alongside the flagship-tier R1S.

Let's get this out of the way right now: The R1S is most likely going to be a better vehicle than the R2. Rivian isn't replacing the R1S with the R2 — it's releasing the R2 as a more affordable alternative, and there will be some compromises when buying the R2 over the R1S.

Don’t let the gimmicks fool you. The Ioniq 5 N is a serious track car
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N drifting.

We’re finally getting to the fun part of automakers’ methodical quest to replicate their lineups with electric cars.

Performance versions of ordinary cars have been a staple of the auto industry for decades. But while we’ve already seen some variants of EVs boasting more power and more impressive stats — think Tesla Model S Plaid or Lucid Air Sapphire — the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first to truly apply that format to an EV.
