‘Tis the season of goodwill, apparently, and in an effort to spread a bit of festive cheer Amazon is offering up a bundle of paid apps and games for the princely sum of nothing.
The deal runs from December 24 through 26 and brings with it a not-to-be-scoffed-at saving of $220, with the Android apps ranging in price from 99 cents to a whopping $65.
The e-commerce giant is touting the offer as its “largest Free App of the Day bundle ever” and includes freebies from a number of big-name developers, among them Rovio, Sega, and Halfbrick Studios.

The company said that in addition to this week’s free giveaway, it’s also offering discounts of between 50 and 85 percent on a range of apps from the likes of Disney, Gameloft, and Sony from now until “into the New Year.”

If you’re more into books than apps and have a Kindle close by, the online retail firm has something for you, too. Starting Christmas Day, you’ll find popular titles by bestselling authors discounted by as much as 85 percent. Fresh deals will be posted daily until at least January 1, Amazon said.

Finally, the company is launching some deals on devices, too, with discounts of up to $25 offered “for a limited time” on Amazon’s Fire TV stick, the Fire HD 7, the Kindle, and Kindle Paperwhite.
Google, too, is offering a few festive deals, including a free Christmas album from Canadian singer Michael Bublé.
iOS users, meanwhile, are beginning to wonder if Apple has decided to scrap its annual ‘12 Days of Gifts‘ app. The company’s traditional end-of-the-year app offers iPhone and iPad owners a free daily download, such as a game, app, song, book, movie, or TV show, from December 26 till January 6. However, with just two days to go, the app still isn’t showing in the iOS store.
