CES 2015 is nigh upon us, and Archos, the company that has dominion over cheap Android tablets and smartphones, announced a slew of new products. Chief among them are the 50 Diamond and 80b Helium.

Starting with the 50 Diamond, we’re looking at an Android 4.4.4 KitKat smartphone powered by an unspecified octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, likely from MediaTek, coupled with 2GB of RAM. 16GB of internal storage should be plenty of room to store pictures taken with the 16-megapixel camera on the back and 8-megapixel camera on the front. If that’s not enough space, the Micro SD card slot allows for expansion up to 128GB.

Displaying KitKat in all its chocolate goodness is the 5-inch 1080p display, with the modestly-beefy 2,7oomAh battery hopefully chugging the phone along throughout the day. As for the price, for its specifications, we would have been modestly surprised if this was at $300. However, Archos prices the 50 Diamond at under $200, making the handset a surprisingly good value.

Moving on to the 80b Helium, we don’t have as much information to share. As of this writing, the only thing we know is the 80b Helium is equipped with 4G LTE, powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and will be priced at under $150.

We’ll likely learn more about the 80b Helium once CES kicks off, though Archos also announced the renewal of its 45b, 50b, and 50c smartphones, as well as the 70 and 101 Helium tablets.

The Honor Magic 6 RSR is my new favorite Android phone of 2024
Someone holding the Honor Magic 6 RSR outside.

There's no doubt that 2024 has already been an exciting year for Android phones. Samsung wowed us with the Galaxy S24 series at the beginning of the year, the OnePlus 12 and 12R are two of the best phones available right now, and Google is expected to impress later this month with the Google Pixel 8a.

But for the last few weeks, I haven't been thinking about any of those phones. Why? Because I've been using the Honor Magic 6 RSR. After launching in China this past March, the Magic 6 RSR is now available in the EU, and that's allowed more folks than ever to get their hands on the phone. And that's great, because the Honor Magic 6 RSR has quickly become my new favorite Android phone of 2024.
