Scribd is setting itself to be the most unorthodox of the many ebook subscription apps. The company offers both ebooks and audiobooks, and now it’s adding another medium to that list: comic books.
Scribd added more than 10,000 comics to its offerings, including titles from Marvel, Archie, Boom! Studios, Dynamite, IDW/Top Shelf, and Valiant. In addition to classic comics, Scribd offers manga, graphic novels, and Young Adult books about popular comic book characters. A wide range of publishers such as Marvel, Arcana, Archie, Boom! Studios, Dynamite, IDW/Top Shelf, Kingstone, Space Goat, Top Cow, Valiant, and Zenescope signed up to join Scribd.

The new comic book section seems to have something for everyone, with titles ranging from the ultimate classics like Spider-Man, Avengers, the X-Men, and Daredevil, to more kid-friendly ones like Archie, Betty and Veronica, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and My Little Pony. Popular YA series such as Locke & Key, Ultimate Spider-Man, Runaways, Afterlife With Archie, Harbinger, Lumberjanes, and more are also included.
Those who like graphic novels will find one by Alan Moore, Matt Fraction, Gail Simone, and George R.R. Martin. Among the many graphic novels Scribd added to its collection are March, From Hell, Swallow Me Whole, Underwater Welder, Spiral-Bound, The Ticking, and Too Cool to Be Forgotten.
Lest manga readers feel left out, Scribd also signed with Media Do for manga from Cork and Harlequin Manga. Work from well-known artist Moyoco Anno is also featured.
While this impressive number of comics could be reason enough to inspire users to pay Scribd’s low $9 a month subscription cost, the service also has more than a million ebooks and a large number of audiobooks to boot.
