So it looks like Neill Blomkamp will get to direct that Aliens sequel after all.

After posting some art last month from a never-made film in the Alien franchise that the District 9 director had conceptualized and commissioned, Blomkamp appears to have sparked the right kind of interest in his dream project. Yesterday, the filmmaker announced (via Instagram) that an Alien-related project was “officially my next film.”

Here’s the photo that Blomkamp posted, along with the announcement via caption:

Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien

20th Century Fox later confirmed Blomkamp’s announcement, and clarified that the project will be a sequel to the Alien franchise, and not the Prometheus sequel currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.

Given that Blomkamp called James Cameron’s 1986 sequel Aliens his favorite film of all time, it seems pretty safe to consider the upcoming film a bona fide dream job for the director. In fact, Blomkamp hasn’t shied away from professing his love for Aliens — the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror classic Alien — while promoting his new film, Chappie.

When asked a few weeks ago about the concept art featuring Aliens stars Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn (as Ellen Ripley and Corporal Hicks, respectively), as well as a new kind of “face-hugger” alien, a massive alien queen, and other iconic elements from the franchise, Blomkamp said the art was inspired by conversations he had with Weaver while filming Chappie.

“[Sigourney] knows about it,” Blomkamp told ComingSoon last week. “Part of it was just inspired by speaking to her on set when we were filming Chappie, and getting her thoughts on Alien and what she thought of the movies that came after Aliens and what she felt about Ripley and what was incomplete for her about Ripley. There was so much fuel in what she was telling me.”

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
Luke gets to live the Jedi legend
