Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3: Check out that grille

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 racecar is nearly ready for its moment in the spotlight at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

Mercedes showed us the back of this racing version of its new AMG GT last week, and now we’re getting a look at the other end.

The car’s lower and wider stance is immediately apparent. Complementing the huge rear wing are a front splitter and dive planes, and there’s a new grille that seems to recall the Mille Miglia-winning 300 SLR racer of the 1950s.

Behind that grille, the GT3 will probably get a fortified version of the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 found in the stock AMG GT.

Other racing modifications will include upgraded suspension, brakes, and tires, and a stripped-out interior with all of the necessary safety equipment.

As the replacement for the SLS AMG GT3, the latest Mercedes racer will face a resurgent European GT3 class, including everything from racing versions of the Cadillac ATS-V to the Lamborghini Húracan.

The AMG GT3 could also race in the U.S. Like the SLS AMG GT3, Mercedes will likely offer cars for sale to privateer teams.

Mercedes also offered the SLS AMG GT3 to individual customers as a Ferrari FXX-baiting track car. Maybe lightning will strike twice with the AMG GT3.

We’ll have full details on the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 when it makes its Geneva Motor Show debut in a couple of weeks.

Hongqi EH7 car in green

It seems that every other month, a new company is coming out with battery-charging tech that’s defying our expectations. A few months back, BYD, the Chinese EV maker, impressed everyone with its “flash charging” system that could take its car from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. Now, Chinese automaker Hongqi has beaten that record.

Everyone mocked Ferrari’s first EV. Now it’s already a sales success.
Critics roasted it online. Buyers signed the checks anyway.
Ferrari Luce

Ferrari's first electric car, the Luce, had a rough start. When it debuted in May, social media dragged its styling, comparing it to cars a tenth of its price, and investors weren't thrilled either, sending Ferrari's Milan-listed shares down more than 8% after the unveiling. Even former Ferrari chair Luca Cordero di Montezemolo jumped in, saying the car didn't deserve to wear the prancing horse badge.

Fast forward two months, and according to a Financial Times report citing people familiar with the matter, Ferrari has quietly achieved its 2026 sales target for the Luce. The company hasn't officially confirmed a number, but sources say it was aiming to sell just under 500 units this year, a target it reached sometime in July.
