After Netflix announced reboots of Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse yesterday, Disney XD rolled out its own plan to help 30-something parents relive their youth vicariously through their own kids, with a reboot of Ducktales (Weeh-ooh!) starting in 2017. And if you’re anything like us, that mercilessly catchy them song will be in your head throughout the rest of this article.

According to Deadline, the new animated comedy will be based on the original series, which had an Emmy-winning three-year run from 1987 to 1990, and will become available as part of The Disney Afternoon block of cartoons that airs daily.
The show will follow the new adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his famous grandnephews – Huet, Dewey, and Louie – as well as, of course, the surly Donald Duck. Other popular characters will reprise their roles, too, from Duckworth, to Ma Beagle, Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack. We’re expecting wild journeys into exotic places, mischief galore, and of course, long swims in a vault overflowing with gold coins.
Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager of Disney XD says that Ducktales, which was inspired by Carl Bark’s comic books, has a “special place in Disney’s TV animation history.”
“…through its storytelling and artistic showmanship,” he says, “[the show] set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults.” Admit it, you’re going to watch.
