Robert Downey Jr. awesomifies charity, offers chance to see new Avengers movie with him

Robert Downey Jr. is inviting you the World Premiere of Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron
Let’s face it: Fundraising videos — even when they’re for a great cause — can often be a little dry. Still, even the most exciting fundraising video would seem a little boring compared to Avengers: Age Of Ultron star Robert Downey Jr.’s pitch for a new contest to attend the upcoming superhero movie’s red-carpet premiere — and help some kids battling illness in the process.

In the video, Downey introduces a contest run through Omaze that will give donators the opportunity to attend the Age Of Ultron premiere and hang with the franchise star, who promises to “awesome the crap out of you.” (This proclamation is followed by a massive fireball effect that just serves to make the video even more, well… awesome.) All proceeds from the contest go to Julia’s House, a hospice in England for children with terminal conditions.

Anyone wishing to enter the contest can do so on Downey’s Omaze page, which offers various pieces of Age Of Ultron and Avengers swag for different levels of donations, starting at $10 and up.

Not only is Downey’s monologue fairly epic, the winner’s prize is also impressive. Along with the red-carpet premiere experience, the grand prize package includes indoor skydiving, a helicopter tour of L.A., a four star hotel, and a stop at Randy’s Donuts — the local landmark where Tony Stark took a mid-flight break during a memorable scene in Iron Man 2 — with Mr. Stark himself. The contest ends in early April.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.

Nicholas Galitzine and Anne Hathaway in The Idea of You.

Amazon Prime Video is starting off strong in May with several new additions to its library of movies, including the premiere of the original romantic drama The Idea of You. Last year's underrated Christmas drama The Holdovers is also now streaming on Prime Video. And as far as we're concerned, a good drama is never out of season.

Prime Video lost a handful of movies at the end of April, and Paul Thomas Anderson's Licorice Pizza is only sticking around through the end of the weekend. But everything else on our list of the best movies on Amazon Prime Video right now is still available. Just keep reading, and you can make plans to watch any of the films that you want to see this month.

The 50 best movies on Netflix right now (May 2024)
Jenna Ortega in Miller's Girl.

It should come as no surprise that this year's hit rom-com Anyone But You has a stranglehold on the top slot of the list of the most popular movies on Netflix. But it is somewhat surprising to see Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver completely disappear from the list. That's going to make Rebel Moon – Part Three very unlikely to happen, and it may even discourage Netflix from committing extremely high budgets to its original sci-fi movies.

More tellingly, two of this week's new additions are modestly budget dramas: Miller's Girl and The Judge. The former features Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, while the latter has great lead performances by Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. So it's not a mystery as to why both of those films are two of the top performers of the week.
