Shooting is still underway on Deadpool, the upcoming movie that puts Marvel Comics’ mouthy mercenary front and center in his own, “R”-rated adventure, but star Ryan Reynolds has been keeping fans updated with a steady stream of humorous posts featuring the popular character. In the most recent image posted by Reynolds, Deadpool offers up his own style of Mother’s Day greeting accompanied by a decidedly NSFW caption from Reynolds.

If earlier promotional images and video left any ember of doubt that the film is making a concerted effort to be faithful to its irreverent source material, this shot (and Reynolds’ caption) summarily snuffs it out.
Directed by visual-effects expert Tim Miller and based on a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool casts Reynolds as Marvel’s antihero with an affinity for breaking the fourth wall. The film chronicles Deadpool’s evolution from Special Forces operative Wade Wilson to the deadly — and quite possibly insane — mercenary that has become one of Marvel’s most popular characters.
Along with Reynolds, the film stars T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The steel-skinned mutant Colossus is also rumored to appear in the film, but he won’t be played by X-Men franchise actor Daniel Cudmore.
Back in April, Reynolds confirmed the film’s much-debated “R” rating with an April Fools Day video that featured Deadpool bludgeoning former Saved by the Bell actor Mario Lopez with a studio light.
Deadpool is presently scheduled to hit theaters February 12, 2016. The film is currently shooting in Vancouver, with production expected to wrap in the near future.
