Sneak a peek if you dare at this trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s gothic Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak - Official Theatrical Trailer [HD]
Guillermo Del Toro’s long-awaited gothic horror Crimson Peak is inching closer to its arrival in theaters, and after offering up some pleasant (and terrifying) surprises in its first trailer back in February, the latest preview manages to provide even more scares — and another glimpse at the horrors waiting inside his haunted-mansion drama.

Co-written by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins (Mimic), Crimson Peak stars Mia Wasikowska (Stoker, Alice in Wonderland) as a young author in 19th century northern England who is torn between her love for a lifelong friend, played by Pacific Rim and Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, and an enigmatic outsider played by Tom Hiddleston (The AvengersOnly Lovers Left Alive). After opting for a relationship with the latter, she finds herself swept off to his family’s gothic mansion in Cumbria — a house that she soon discovers is filled with terrifying secrets and supernatural dangers.

The film also stars Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) and Supernatural actor Jim Beaver, as well as Torchwood actor Burn Gorman, 24 actress Leslie Hope, and one of Del Toro’s favorite creature actors, Doug Jones (Pan’s LabyrinthHellboy).

Del Toro has cited large-scale, classic horror movies such as The OmenThe Exorcist, and The Shining as his inspiration for Crimson Peak, describing the film as a set-based “ghost story and gothic romance.”

“I think people are getting used to horror subjects done as found footage or B-value budgets,” said Del Toro of the concept for the movie in a 2013 interview with Total Film. “I wanted this to feel like a throwback.”

Originally scheduled to hit theaters late last year but pushed back to allow for a pre-Halloween premiere, Crimson Peak is now scheduled to arrive in both standard and IMAX theaters October 16.

Bradley Cooper in Nightmare Alley.

Stanton Carlisle can read minds "under the right circumstances." At least, that's what Bradley Cooper's character wants people to believe in the first trailer for Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley.

The first trailer for del Toro's thriller features Carlisle under the scrutiny of a lie detector test, choosing the right words that will allow him to bend the truth without admitting that he's a fraud.

7 best Nicolas Cage sci-fi movies, ranked
Two men point guns at each other in Face/Off.

With well over 100 movies to his name since his screen debut in 1982, Nicolas Cage is one of the most prolific actors of his generation. And while Cage has appeared in many rom-coms, thrillers, and dramas, he's only occasionally accepted roles in sci-fi movies. Even with Cage's direct-to-video era, there just aren't many science fiction movies to choose from.

Since Cage has a sci-fi adjacent postapocalyptic horror flick called Arcadian currently available on VOD, we've decided to throw the spotlight on the seven best Nicolas Cage sci-fi movies. However, you should keep in mind that Cage isn't always the best judge of what is or isn't a great movie. That's why this list would be very different if it was about the seven best Nicolas Cage movies. In fact, only our top choice would be on both lists.
