Two new striking trailers drop as True Detective Season 2 readies for launch

True Detective Season 2: Stand (HBO)
There are less than two weeks to go before the premiere of the second season of True Detective, landing on HBO June 21. As such, the teaser trailers are coming out fast and furious to get fans riled up for the event.

The first new trailer, entitled Stand, is only 30 seconds long, but it’s chillingly ominous music and progressive build-up to plenty of anger and violence perfectly capture what we can expect from the show. It also highlights the four main actors who will be featured this season: Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughan, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch.

Aptly called Chaos, the second trailer also manages to have you wanting more after just half a minute. This time, there’s dialogue, including Farrell’s tormenting voiceover.

The four key actors will have big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s stellar performances in the first season. As the show’s title implies, this season will feature detectives as well, including Farrell as a corrupt officer struggling between the good and the bad sides of the law. McAdams will also play a detective, and Kitsch a highway patrol officer and former soldier. In a departure from his typical comedic work, Vaughan will play the criminal at the center of the conspiracy. Once the crime scene is discovered, and Farrell and Vaughan’s characters face off, the story will inevitably involve many twists and turns.

As with season one, this season was written by Nic Pizzolatto, but will feature various directors, including Justin Lin (Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6) for the first two episodes, and Janus Metz Pedersen (Armadillo). Cary Fukunaga, who directed the first season, will return as executive producer for season two. The show will include eight, hour-long episodes.

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
