We got our first glimpse at the X900C and X910C 4K TVs at CES at the beginning of this year, and ever since, we’ve been waiting to find out when they would be unleashed upon the public and what the price would be. That day has finally come.
Sony Electronics has announced the pricing and availabilty for both models, and as long as you don’t want the largest TV in the bunch, you won’t have to wait very long. The X910C measures in at a mammoth 75 inches and will be available later this summer for $5,500.
The X900C, on the other hand, comes in two smaller but still pretty big sizes. The 55-inch model will sell for $2,500, while the 65-inch model will sell for $4,000. Both variants will be available starting next month, but presales are available right now.
One of the most striking features of the X900C is how slim it is: 0.2 inches at its thinnest point, which Sony describes as “thinner than a smartphone.” More impressive is the actual display. The Triluminos panel offers Sony’s widest color gamut ever.
Like the rest of this line, which went on sale last month, the X900C and X910C both run on the Android TV platform. This provides built-in access to the standard suite of streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, Hulu, and Sling TV. Full Google Cast support is obviously here, and PlayStation Now support is built in, allowing owners to streaming PS3 games straight to the TV, no console necessary.
If you don’t have a lot of 4K content you feel like watching yet, fear not. While we’re in the early days of 4K availability, the X-Reality PRO Picture Engine in the X900C and X910C upscales all existing content to 4K.
Once the TVs are available they will be found in Sony stores and Best Buy locations, as well as online from Sony, Best Buy, and Amazon.
