During Comic-Con, Legendary Pictures promoted the upcoming Warcraft and Crimson Peak movies with a virtual-reality experience that lets them soar over the land of Azeroth or explore the shadowed corners of a haunted mansion using Google Cardboard. Now those same VR experiences have made the transition to YouTube, offering everyone an interactive tour of the two films’ key settings.
Titled Warcraft: Skies of Azeroth and Beware Crimson Peak, the two videos let viewers pan 360 degrees in any direction as they’re taken on a tour of each environment. For the Warcraft video, you’re soaring above a massive city as you ride on the back of a gryphon. In the Crimson Peak video, you tour the terrifying mansion of Allerdale Hall — the primary setting for the film — as Tom Hiddleston narrates your journey.
It’s recommended that both VR experiences be viewed using the Google Chrome browser, of course.
Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon), Warcraft adapts the popular game series into a big-screen adventure starring Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ben Foster as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, Clancy Brown as Blackhand, Toby Kebbel as Durotan, Robert Kazinsky as Ogrim, Daniel Wu as Gul’Dan, and Paula Patton’s Garona.
The first trailer for Warcraft is expected to debut in November, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters June 10, 2016.
As for Crimson Peak, the gothic haunted-house thriller is directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), and Jim Beaver (Supernatural). The film follows a young author whose relationship with a mysterious stranger brings her to his family’s ancient estate — a mansion that “breathes, bleeds, and remembers.”
Crimson Peak arrives in standard and IMAX theaters October 16.
