The fastest man alive may have found his director.
A new report indicates that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter writer Seth Grahame-Smith will write and direct The Flash, the upcoming film featuring DC Comics’ scarlet speedster.
Grahame-Smith will pen the screenplay for the film based on an earlier treatment written by The LEGO Movie writing/directing team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lord and Miller were previously rumored as potential directors for the film, but ended up joining Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming Han Solo movie as directors.
If the report proves true, The Flash will be Grahame-Smith’s feature directorial debut. He previously penned screenplays for the Dark Shadows movie and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the latter of which was based on a novel he also wrote. Grahame-Smith’s only directing credit to date is a pair of episodes of The Hard Times of RJ Berger, the MTV series he co-created with David Katzenberg. He’s also attached to pen the screenplay for The Lego Batman Movie.
Currently scheduled to hit theaters in 2018, The Flash already has its lead actor attached. We Need To Talk About Kevin and The Perks of Being a Wallflower actor Ezra Miller was cast as the titular hero of the film back in October 2014.
Miller is expected to make his debut as Barry Allen, the alter ego of The Flash, in next year’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then will likely appear in Justice League: Part One in 2017 before appearing in his solo movie. The version of the character played by Miller isn’t expected to have any overlap with the version of The Flash played by Grant Gustin in the popular television series on The CW.
The Flash hits theaters March 3, 2018.
