We’ve seen quite a bit of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice at this point, but while there’s been an early trailer and some unofficial photos from Suicide Squad, we’ve seen comparatively little of that film or the upcoming Wonder Woman solo movie. That’s going to change next month, however, when some new footage from both films, which are part of DC Comics’ cinematic universe, debuts on television.

The CW announced this week that a new trailer for Suicide Squad and a sneak peek at Wonder Woman will premiere during an hour-long block of programming promoting Dawn of Justice and the network’s upcoming Legends of Tomorrow superhero team-up TV series.

The two half-hour specials will air Tuesday, January 19, beginning at 9:00 pm ET on The CW. The first special, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now will offer a preview of the upcoming series featuring a group of DC Comics heroes and villains from the Arrow and The Flash series. The second special is titled DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League and will feature the debut of the new Suicide Squad trailer and a preview of Wonder Woman (which will likely be our first look at footage from the film).

Here are the official synopses for the two specials:

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now is an in-depth look at the origin stories of the heroes and villains of the highly anticipated new series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, premiering Thursday, January 21, 2016 (8:00-9:00 pm ET/PT). Featuring show clips and interviews from “Legends,” Arrow and The Flash executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, Phil Klemmer, and Wendy Mericle, “Their Time is Now” introduces viewers to the immortal madman Vandal Savage, the time master Rip Hunter, and the motley band of heroes and rogues he assembles to try to save the future of humanity: Hawkman, Hawkgirl, White Canary, The Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold, and Heat Wave.

DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League invites viewers behind the scenes of the exciting new movies coming out of the DC Films universe, culminating in the thrilling world premiere of the all-new Suicide Squad, DC’s misfit crew of antiheroes forced into saving the world this summer, with director David Ayer. Hosted by filmmaker/writer/lifelong comics fan Kevin Smith, with special guest DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns, the special showcases the explosive landscape of DC’s greatest heroes, kicking off with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, in theaters this March, and with a sneak peek from the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film.

The DC Comics cinematic universe kicked off with 2013’s Man of Steel, and will continue next year with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016. That film will be followed by Suicide Squad on August 5, 2016, and then Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017. Justice League Part One will then bring all of the superheroes together on November 17, 2017.

Netflix is streaming the craziest action movie of 2024. Here’s why I loved it
A man floating in air kicks another man in the face in City Hunter.

This month seems to be the time to release action movies that color outside the lines. We've already had Dev Patel's Monkey Man, a messy, throw-everything-at-the-wall action movie that blends intricate fight sequences and on-the-nose social commentary in an entertaining package that will surely gain cult status in the near future. Just this weekend, Boy Kills World dished out loads of cartoon violence and over-the-top gore in a bid for John Wick-level fandom. Both movies bend or break the rules of reality to deliver quickly cut fight scenes that push the boundaries of the genre, all in an attempt to one-up the high standards set by the best movies in the Mission: Impossible and Fast and Furious franchises.

Yet the best of the April bunch is the one that has the lowest profile. City Hunter doesn't star anyone you'd recognize like It actor Bill Skarsgård in Boy Kills World and hasn't been backed by an extensive marketing campaign like Universal's Monkey Man. But the movie is a blast; it's like putting Pop Rocks in a can of Mountain Dew and chasing it down with a couple of Pixy Sticks. It's ludicrous, immature, and totally unrealistic. It's also my favorite action movie of 2024. Here's why you need to stream City Hunter pronto.
It's an adaptation of a massively popular franchise

10 best Netflix shows with more than 5 seasons, ranked
A woman puts a crown on a man in The Crown.

Netflix is home to many great shows. It's also the most prolific and well-known streaming service of them all, with a large catalog of original and acquired content. However, the King of Streamers is also famous for being quite trigger-happy. Indeed, Netflix is no stranger to canceling its shows, even if it spent millions producing them; if they don't yield immediate results, the streamer will pull the plug without blinking an eye.

Still, many original shows have beaten the cancellation curse and had a successful life, at least by streaming standards. These shows are Netflix's best efforts that actually got to enjoy a full life cycle, receiving more than five seasons. None might come close to the 100-episode mark, but these beloved series prove to hopeful showrunners everywhere that there is indeed life on Netflix after season 5.
