Off-road aficionados, take notice: Ram has just announced the launch of a new option package that allows the 2500 Heavy Duty pickup truck to go farther off the beaten path than ever before.

Appropriately called 4×4 Off-Road, the package includes trail-ready goodies such as a pair of large hooks up front that allow the 2500 to tow obstacles out of the way or serve as an anchor. It also features skid plates that protect vital mechanical components like the transfer case, and fender flares on all four corners that emphasize the truck’s width. Trucks equipped with the 4×4 Off-Road package ride on all-terrain tires manufactured by Firestone, and either 18- or 20-inch wheels depending on which trim level is selected.

Off-road prowess is further enhanced by monotube shock absorbers manufactured by Blistein. Visually, sizable “4×4 Off-Road” stickers on both sides of the bed inform other motorists that they’re not looking at a run-of-the-mill Ram 2500 Heavy Duty.

In a bid to deliver a truck that suits every motorists’ needs, Ram’s 4×4 Off-Road package is offered on Crew Cab and Mega Cab models, with gasoline- and diesel-burning engines, as well as with short- and long-wheelbase trucks. All versions regardless of body style and engine type gain an anti-spin differential out back, a re-tuned stability control system, and a Hill Descent Control function borrowed from the Power Wagon. As its name implies, the Hill Descent Control technology is like an ultra low-speed cruise control that allows the driver to go down steep slopes without touching the pedals.

Buyers will be able to order the Off-Road Package on 2017 models starting in the fall. Pricing information hasn’t been announced yet, but Ram promises the package is compatible with every 2500 trim level including Tradesman, SLT, Outdoorsman, Laramie, and the range-topping Limited.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N drifting.

We’re finally getting to the fun part of automakers’ methodical quest to replicate their lineups with electric cars.

Performance versions of ordinary cars have been a staple of the auto industry for decades. But while we’ve already seen some variants of EVs boasting more power and more impressive stats — think Tesla Model S Plaid or Lucid Air Sapphire — the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is the first to truly apply that format to an EV.

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is one of the best-looking EVs yet
Front of the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore

Maserati is adopting electrified vehicles with open arms, and while that could potentially signal an identity crisis for the luxury Italian brand, that’s probably a good thing in the long run.

The company recently took the wraps off of the new Maserati GranCabrio Folgore, which is essentially a convertible version of its already released GranTurismo Folgore electric car. The new EV is its third go at electrified vehicles so far, and it flew us out to Rimini, Italy, to witness the big reveal in person.
