The cast of the 24 spinoff series just keeps getting bigger, with 24: Legacy now adding Emmy-winning actor Jimmy Smits to its already impressive cast.

FOX announced the addition of Smits this week, confirming that the former L.A. Law and NYPD Blue actor and 12-time Primetime Emmy nominee would join previously-announced cast members Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, and Teddy Sears in the 12-episode series. The series will feature an entirely new cast of characters but will unfold at the simulated, real-time pace that made the original series so popular.

According to FOX, Smits will play John Donovan, an ambitious U.S. Senator married to the former head of the Counter Terrorism Unit (C.T.U.), Otto’s character in the series.

While a 12-episode arc is planned for the series, the network has only ordered a pilot at this point. Original series director Stephen Hopkins will helm the pilot episode, which also brings back many of the producers on 24.

Early reports on the plot of the series suggest that it will follow a former Army Ranger and military hero played by Hawkins, one of the stars of the recent N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Hawkins’ character attempts to settle down after retiring from the military, only to get caught up in a far-reaching terrorist plot that drags him back into action. He ends up seeking help from the C.T.U. in order to stop a potentially devastating terror attack on American soil.

The original 24 series premiered in 2001 and ran for eight seasons, then returned for a 12-episode miniseries in 2014. Over the course of its original run, the series and its star, Kiefer Sutherland, earned 73 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including one Emmy Award for the year’s best dramatic series and one Emmy Award for Sutherland. The 2014 miniseries also won three Emmy Awards.

There’s no word on when 24: Legacy will premiere on Fox.

Logo for WWE Backlash France.

A WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) is heading to Lyon Metropolis for the first time for WWE Backlash France 2024. Since the formation of TKO in September 2023, WWE has prioritized global expansion. In 2024, Backlash France is the second PLE to be held outside the U.S., and it won't be the last. Five of the next six WWE PLEs will take place outside the U.S.

Heading into Backlash, WWE is entering the "American Nightmare Era." After finishing his story at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now the Undisputed WWE Champion. A different era means a new crop of challengers for Rhodes. First up is AJ Styles, a former two-time WWE champion. Rhodes must bring his A-game if he wants to walk out of France as champion.

If you have to watch one Star Wars movie this May the 4th, stream this one
Luke looking off into the binary sunset before dying in The Last Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan has a favorite movie, and many Star Wars fans also hate at least one of the entries in one of their favorite franchises. That can make the exercise of choosing the perfect Star Wars movie to watch on May the 4th difficult. For all of the love this fan base has shown to the franchise over the years, it's also a fan base that has strong opinions about why one movie or another is worthy of your time.

This May 4, though, I'd recommend watching Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Almost undoubtedly the most controversial entry in the saga, one that makes some people furious and others jump for joy, The Last Jedi is worthy of your attention, whether you like what it's doing or not. Here are three reasons you should check it out:
