Alienware M11x Now Ready for Pre-order

The Dell Store is sporting a pre-order page for its new M11x gaming netbook. The Alienware M11x, which features an 11.1″ 720p display complete with both NVIDIA GT335M and integrated graphics. Dell says the M11x should achieve over six hours of battery life in its lower-graphics function mode and attain around two hours of intense gaming time in its other mode. The M11x also comes with DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA ports so you can take your gaming to the big screen and connect to larger monitors and HDTVs.

The M11x has a starting price of $799 and comes with a 1.3GHz Pentium SU4100, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT335M, 2GB of memory, and 160GB HDD. Mobile broadband is available from Verizon or AT&T for another $125—which is starting to make this gaming netbook a lot more expensive than we hoped for. The specs really do add up fast, so careful with your clicking.

The ship date is March 1st.

Alienware’s m18 makes a mockery of thin-and-light gaming laptops at CES 2023

Alienware is debuting a monster gaming laptop at CES 2023 -- the 18-inch m18. I had a chance to try out the machine for a bit after Alienware teased it, and although it's impressive, I've struggled to think of a good use case for a laptop that's so large.

The term "desktop replacement" doesn't scratch the surface, which was previously used by massive machines like the MSI GT77 Titan. The hulking Alienware m18 weighs 9.3 pounds, making it even heavier than the older Alienware Area-51m. It's a super heavy machine, and will likely come with an equally heavy power brick in tow.

Alienware and XPS are both premium brands in Dell's lineup, but in the past, they couldn't have been more aesthetically different. In 2023, however, Dell has introduced a redesign of the Alienware x14 and x16 that connect the two brands more than ever before.

The Alienware x14 R2 and brand new x16 now have a level of refinement and class not normally seen in the world of gaming laptops. After spending some time with these redesigned devices, I came way thinking that they may be as close to XPS gaming laptops as we'll ever get.

HP Envy x360 13 vs. Apple MacBook Air M2

HP's Envy x360 13 is an excellent convertible 2-in-1 for not a lot of money. It's extremely flexible, well-built, and it provides solid productivity performance while being priced to undercut much of the competition. That includes the Apple MacBook Air M2, an excellent laptop that's among the least expensive MacBooks.

If you're looking at 13-inch machines, then these two laptops should be on your shortlist. They're quite different, though, and so the choice between them isn't an easy one to make. We'll try to make it a little easier.
