Apple MagSafe 2 cables deal from Amazon for Black Friday 2020
Amazon/Apple

Black Friday is finally here, and if you need a new power cable for your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air you don’t have to wait any longer to get a great deal on one. Black Friday deals don’t just cover the big-ticket items like laptops, you can also power up your MacBooks with discounted power cables because Amazon has seen fit to include discounts on Apple power cables during today’s sale. Among all of the great Amazon Black Friday deals are these three really sweet deals on Apple MagSafe 2 power cables: A 60W MagSafe 2 power adapter, a 45W MagSafe 2 power adapter, and an 85W MagSafe 2 power adapter. Let’s take a closer look at what each deal has to offer.

Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display) — $52, was $85:

Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Air) — $72, was $79:

Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Pro with Retina display) — $54, was $79:

If you have 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display, you can’t go wrong with Apple’s 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter which is on sale with a little over a $32 price cut (which includes an initial $31 discount and an additional $1.50 off at checkout). Without the deal, you’d have to spend $85 instead. It’s a bit of a no-brainer that you should snap this deal up while it lasts if you need a new power cable. The power cable itself is only compatible with 13-inch MacBook Pros that have a Retina display, and includes a gentle, easy-to-use magnetic connector to prevent accidents, and an LED light to give status updates.

MacBook Air owners with early 2014, early 2015, mid-2012, and mid-2013 models, may want to consider Amazon’s deal on this Apple 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter. It’s a modest $7 discount, and so you’ll be paying $72 instead of $79.  This adapter also boasts the same magnetic connector, so that tripping over the cable doesn’t result in knocking over your MacBook Air and damaging it.

And finally, if you own a MacBook Pro with a Retina display, you can get an Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter from Amazon for Black Friday. This deal includes a $25 price cut and so you’ll end up paying $54 instead of the original list price of $79, which works out to a decent 32% discount. Since it’s from Apple, you can count on the fact that it too will include the helpful magnetic connector to keep your MacBook Pro safe. And even if you don’t need a replacement power adapter right now, at this price it would be worth it to get it now anyway, even as just a backup or just to keep one in your office.

Look, the MacBook Neo is a fine machine for building apps. And yes, I am utterly surprised
I am talking about apps with a generous dose of AI wizardry happening in the background.
MacBook Neo in yellow.

In a span of just one week, I have built a full-fledged Android app for my Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldable phone, three Mac apps, and an iPhone app. And here's the fun part. The entire journey of creating these apps actually started on a phone, jumped to my MacBook Neo, compiled just fine, and ran flawlessly, without making me want to tear my hair off. The latest example?

It built my calendar-clipboard hybrid app in Terminal within 20 seconds, and an on-device transcription app with a retro look in roughly 15 seconds. I used to think building desktop software would have me burning the midnight oil. The MacBook Neo did it in less time than I can pour myself a can of soda and take the first sip.

AI could be doing to our tolerance for hard work what social media did to our patience
Even brief AI use may make unaided work feel more frustrating once the help disappears.
ChatGPT on iPhone

It is no secret that social media, and especially the rise of short-form content, has played a major role in the declining patience many of us have for anything that takes too long to get to the point. A few seconds without something interesting happening is enough to make us swipe away and look for the next thing. AI appears to be doing something similar to the way we approach work.

A new peer-reviewed study found that people who used AI for around 10 to 15 minutes were more likely to struggle and give up once the AI was taken away. The researchers ran three randomized experiments with 1,222 participants who were given math and reading-comprehension tasks. AI helped them perform better at first, but their performance tanked once they had to solve the problems on their own.

Microsoft wants Copilot Notebooks to handle the work that comes after an AI answer
Built-in Office editing gives users somewhere to revise what Copilot produces
Copilot graphics

Microsoft is bringing Office editing into Copilot Notebooks through its Frontier preview. Users can work on Word, Excel and PowerPoint files alongside their project references, making changes themselves or asking Copilot to handle them.

Generating a report or presentation with AI still leaves someone responsible for getting it ready to share. The October update puts editing tools where that work begins, though having a document neatly formatted doesn’t make its contents correct.
