Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) earlier this week announced the launch of a new motorcycle racing simulation for the PlayStation 2 which was developed by those responsible for Gran Tursimo. Tourist Trap is rated “E†for Everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.
In Tourist Trap, said SCEA, designers Polyphony Digital have captured “the delicate balance between rider and machine like never beforeâ€. The game offers players 35 real life and fantasy courses and more than 100 licensed motorcycles from manufacturers like BMW Motorrad, Buell, Ducati and Kawasaki to choose from. Two modes of play are available, with one focusing on quick single or two player races, while the other is a career mode allow players the ability to undertake license school missions followed by various challenges and race events. In this latter “Trophy Mode†players can earn new bikes and accessories along the way. The game also offers a high degree of customization, ranging from a biker’s gear to the degree of one’s riding turns.
“Using what we have learned to create the most authentic racing simulation for the Gran Turismo series, our development team is excited about continuing to refine and expand our work to deliver the most realistic motorcycle racing experience ever for the PlayStation 2,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo franchise and Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. Corporate Executive, in a statement. “Racing motorcycles in Tourist Trophy offers an entirely different and exciting gameplay experience. One has to account for a host of different variables on a motorcycle, such as riding style, capabilities of individual bikes and how a rider’s movement greatly effects the motorcycle, creating a unique and new racing experience.”
