Telltale’s The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Telltale’s blockbuster episodic adventure series The Walking Dead (seasons one and two) and The Wolf Among Us (season one) are coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October and November, respectively. The same announcements also revealed that both series would be coming to PS3, PS Vita, and Xbox 360 in retail form.

The Walking Dead adapts the world of Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore’s hit comic book series (which also inspired an extremely popular AMC television show) about the zombie apocalypse into an episodic adventure where the tough decisions and their tougher consequences are left in your hands. Telltale’s breakout series breathed new life into the neglected adventure genre and opened up fresh possibilities for storytelling in video games.

The Wolf Among Us followed The Walking Dead‘s success by adapting another modern classic comic, Bill Willingham’s Fables. The series chronicles the struggles of characters from fairy tales and folklore who have been forced out of their home to establish a new community in modern day New York City.

If you haven’t played Telltale’s episodic games, then this will be a great chance to catch up with some of the best storytelling in recent gaming.

I played The Walking Dead: Betrayal with one of its developers and they backstabbed me

While Among Us didn’t invent the social deduction genre, it’s certainly the game that popularized and nearly perfected it. That’s why it isn’t surprising that many games have tried to mimic and build upon its success over the years, from indies like Goose Goose Duck to Fortnite, one of the most popular games in the world. The latest of the games to try and take on Innersloth’s hit is The Walking Dead: Betrayal from Other Ocean Interactive, the developers of Project Winter.

Curious to see what a licensed social deception game would be like in a post-Among Us world, I jumped at the chance to play a match of Betrayal with a developer. What I found was a multiplayer deduction game that prioritizes roles a lot more than its peers and brings more action into the experience. On top of that, it feels like a true The Walking Dead game, with odds that feel very stacked against its survivors.
Setting the stage
Matches in The Walking Dead: Betrayal support up to eight players, who are supposed to work together to fix an objective within their safe zone and then leave the map without succumbing to an encroaching walker horde. Everyone has a unique role, like a Bodyguard who must protect another player or risk their stats being drained faster for the rest of the game or a tailor who can craft walker skin suits. Two players, called Traitors, are trying to sabotage the completion of that objective, although they can be exiled from the safe zone if they come under suspicion.

Red Dead Redemption is coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4 this month

The original Red Dead Redemption is coming to two new platforms, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, later this month. It'll retail for $50 on both platforms.

Rockstar Games' open-world western game first launched in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3. It was critically acclaimed and a smash sales hit, creating a new franchise for Rockstar that could stand alongside the likes of Grand Theft Auto. It received a sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, in 2019, but the original Red Dead Redemption remained stuck on older platforms outside of backward compatibility support on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
That's why fans got excited when a rating for the game from the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea popped up. We've now learned that this rating is for new Nintendo Switch and PS4 ports of Red Dead Redemption by Double Eleven Studios. Red Dead Redemption will release across both of those platforms digitally on August 17, with a physical launch to follow on October 13.

It will cost $50 and includes the base campaign as well as the zombie-infested Undead Nightmare expansion; the Red Dead Online multiplayer is not included. This is the first time Red Dead Redemption will ever be on a Nintendo system, although it doesn't look like the port will have much in the way of Switch-exclusive features. That said, a press release does reveal that this will be the first version of the game to include Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Latin American Spanish, Polish, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese localizations.
Red Dead Redemption comes out on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on August 17.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will follow Jedi Cal Kestis (and his loveable droid buddy, BD-1) five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Kestis will be attempting to stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit as he continues to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy. We know this sequel is set to be a bit darker than its predecessor while still hitting that line between Dark Souls and Metroidvania thanks to complex Force puzzles, and, of course, intense lightsaber combat.

Survivor is set to launch tomorrow on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it looks incredible. But if you haven't upgraded to a current-gen console yet or are a dedicated Nintendo Switch gamer, you might be wondering if you'll ever had a chance to play the next installment in the Star Wars Jedi story.
