Google Glass gets banned from Comic-Con screenings

Back on June 30, movie theaters around the United Kingdom announced that Google Glass would not be allowed in auditoriums. Now, Google Glass can take on one more place where it isn’t allowed: San Diego Comic-Con screenings, as reported by TechHive.

While it seems that Comic-Con is singling out Glass, the convention policies forbid recording any footage shown during panels from any device. In other words, if you have your smartphone out, it is just as likely to get the boot as Glass. “Remember recording of footage on the screens during panels is prohibited,” states Comic-Con’s convention policies. “This includes Google Glasses. You cannot wear Google Glasses during footage viewing in any program room.” No preferential treatment is given to those who have prescription-based Google Glasses, so that means you’ll just have to bring another pair of regular glasses if that’s the case. However, you can still wear Glass on the convention floor. While there have been plenty of interesting uses when it comes to Glass, the wearable has also faced its fair share of controversy. Glass is currently available as the Explorer Edition for $1,500, with no indication as to when there will be wide availability.

A photo of the AT&T logo on a building.

We have bad news for AT&T customers who always expect to get the fastest 5G speeds. The second-largest carrier in the U.S. will now make you pay extra for the fastest option. On Thursday, AT&T announced its new “Turbo” add-on, which it says will provide “enhanced data connectivity for real-time responsiveness.”

What this means in terms of network speeds compared to what everyday AT&T 5G customers get isn’t exactly clear.
