Zagg’s new battery pack charges up your iPhone and Apple Watch on the move

We’ve already taken a look at charging stations that power the iPhone and the Apple Watch, such as the aptly named Belkin Charge Dock, but it’s only helpful when you’re at home. What about charging both those Apple products when you’re out and about? Mobile accessory manufacturer Zagg thinks it has the answer with its Mobile Charging Station One for the iPhone and Apple Watch.

It’s an evolution of the basic portable battery pack, because in addition to the built-in Lightning cable for charging an iPhone, there’s an Apple Watch charging plate on the top. The 5000mAh cell inside should be powerful enough to charge up the battery inside an iPhone and an Apple Watch, with a little left in reserve. Zagg has made the charger so it’ll happily power both at the same time, so there’s no need to made a decision as to which should be dealt with first.

Zagg has thought about the design, too, and mounted the Apple Watch charging plate so the Nightstand mode introduced with WatchOS 2.0 remains visible. The battery pack looks compact enough to be portable, and useful enough to sit on a desk or by your bed. Moreover, the Apple Watch dock section folds out of the way when not in use. It does look like you’ll need to reuse the Apple Watch charging plate that came with the watch though, but a Lightning cable is already part of the pack.

We’ll take a closer look at the Zagg Mobile Charging Station One at CES, where it’ll be shown for the first time. We know it will cost $80, but no word yet on when it will be available.

There’s a big problem with the iPhone’s Photos app
The Apple iPhone 15 Plus's gallery app.

While my primary device these days continues to be my iPhone 15 Pro, I’ve dabbled with plenty of Android phones since I’ve been here at Digital Trends. One of my favorite brands of phone has been the Google Pixel because of its strong suite of photo-editing tools and good camera hardware.

Google first added the Magic Eraser capability with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which is a tool I love using. Then, with the Pixel 8 series, Google added the Magic Editor, which uses generative AI to make edits that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. There are also tools like Photo Unblur, which is great for old photographs and enhancing images that were captured with low-quality sensors.

Why you should buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max instead of the iPhone 15 Pro
Someone holding an iPhone 15 Pro Max outside on a patio, showing the back of the Natural Titanium color.

If you want the best iPhone money can buy in 2024, you have two options: the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. They have the same chipset, similar display technology, nearly identical cameras, etc. It's a really close battle, save for the fact that the iPhone 15 Pro is $200 cheaper.

It might be tempting to save some cash and choose the iPhone 15 Pro, but I recommend you splurge for the larger (and more expensive) iPhone 15 Pro Max. Why? Let me explain.
It's a big iPhone you won't hate using
