New trailer for By the Sea shows Jolie and Pitt having trouble in paradise

The first trailer we saw for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s By the Sea was a listless, restless spot, that showcased crying, drinking, smoking, and plenty of spousal abuse.

And now a new trailer for the film has debuted, and … it’s a listless, restless spot, that showcases crying, drinking, smoking, and plenty of spousal abuse.

You know what you’re in for if you buy a ticket for this one: You’re going to be watching a train wreck, but oh what a beautiful train wreck it will be. As much as the movie business may change, putting absurdly beautiful people in absurdly beautiful places may still be a winning formula.

Brad Pitt brooding on a rocky shore, Angelina Jolie leaning longingly on a balcony railing — just in time for Halloween, this trailer delivers basket after basket of delicious eye candy.

Filmed on the rocky coast of Gozo, a tiny island off Malta with a population of just 31,000, the film seems to use its idyllic location to make the point that, no matter how perfect things may look on the surface, they can be seriously ugly and mangled beneath it.

Since neither co-star says a single word in this trailer, it’s tough to glean anything too meaningful, but the real draw here is that we get Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the same screen for the first time since Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005). This time around, Jolie also directed the film, and fans of Brangelina will have to hope that a couple working together on a film about a couple growing apart isn’t a recipe for a real-life relationship disaster. But something tells us Hollywood’s favorite power couple will be just fine.

By the Sea is set to hit theaters Nov. 13, 2015
