Check out this cool new animated teaser for The X-Files revival series

As we near the premiere date for The X-Files revival series, Fox has been doing its part to draw attention to the fan-favorite series’ impending return with some creative previews. The latest teaser for the limited series is particularly creative, as it offers an animated spin on the adventures of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, complete with appropriately cryptic snippets of dialogue.

The new teaser for The X-Files aired during this week’s episode of Gotham on Fox, and features some eye-catching graphics that set a nice tone for the series’ return.

Scheduled to premiere in January, the revival of The X-Files brings back series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Mulder and Scully, respectively, as well as much of the original series’ supporting cast. The revival series will run six episodes, but Anderson, Duchovny, and series creator/showrunner Chris Carter have all indicated that more episodes are possible if the limited series does well.

Along with Duchovny and Anderson reprising their roles as Mulder and Scully, respectively, the series revival will also feature the return of series veteran Mitch Pileggi as the pair’s former boss, Walter Skinner, as well as fellow series regular William B. Davis as the enigmatic Cigarette-Smoking Man. Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick, who co-starred in the series late in its run after Duchovny and Anderson had ceased appearing regularly in episodes, are also rumored to be returning in some capacity for the revival.

Carter wrote and directed three of the six revival episodes, with series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan, and James Wong writing and directing the remaining episodes.

The revival of The X-Files kicks off Sunday, Jan. 24, at 10 p.m. ET following the NFC Championship Game on FOX and then continues on its normal day and time: Monday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m. ET.

Hulu celebrates 30 years of The X-Files with curated episode lists
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in The X-Files: Fight the Future.

"The truth is out there." Thirty years ago this month, The X-Files premiered on Fox and quickly became a pop culture sensation. The series was initially paired with the sci-fi Western, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., which featured Bruce Campbell in the leading role. But of the two shows, The X-Files captured the public's imagination with its blend of science fiction, horror, and occasional humor. Series creator Chris Carter tapped into the zeitgeist of '90s paranoia, and the show made David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson into stars for their performances as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. Now, Hulu is paying tribute to The X-Files' 30th anniversary by introducing curated lists of the best episodes.

Although The X-Files ran for nine seasons on Fox from 1993 to 2001, the series returned for two additional seasons in 2016. All told, there were 218 episodes, two feature films, and one very memorable animated guest appearance on The Simpsons. Within the series, the mythology episodes often dealt with the UFO storyline that ran through the series, while the monster-of-the-week episodes gave Mulder and Scully one-off adventures. There were also paranormal-themed episodes that didn't quite fit into either of the previous two categories.

Spy x Family is the next crossover anime you need to watch
Loid, Yor, and Anya Forge in Spy X Family

Tatsuya Endo's Spy x Family seems to have struck at the perfect time thanks to anime being more ingrained in mainstream pop culture than ever on an international level. Endo's original manga series began serialization in Shueisha's Shounen Jump+ digital magazine on a biweekly schedule, and it's since transcended its source medium to become an international juggernaut in the anime industry.

It certainly helps that animation studios Wit Studio (Attack on Titan seasons 1-3, Vinland Saga season 1) and CloverWorks (The Promised Neverland seasons 1-2) beautifully adapted Endo's endearing art style to vibrant effect, but its characters lift a straightforward premise into a thoroughly investing watch. From the blending of genres to innovative art direction to irresistible character dynamics, Spy x Family has a welcome sense of sincerity to it that ties audiences to this colorful cast of unlikely family members.
