Listening to music isn’t a solitary experience, so Ultimate Ears has made it even easier to enjoy your favorite songs with a group. The company has released Block Party, an app feature that works with UE’s lineup of portable speakers — Roll, Boom 2, and Megaboom — to share songs through the same speaker. The updated apps are now available through the iOS and Android app stores.

Through the UE app, Block Party allows up to three friends to connect to a single UE speaker and share songs from their favorite music services. Since each has the power to control the playlist, there’s no need to argue over who gets to play DJ. It’s an innovative way to get more listeners engaged. We’ve seen other speakers with similar features before, such as the Sol Republic Deck, but it’s nice to see this addition to a speaker family as versatile as UE’s lineup, which also bring 360-degree sound and water-proofing into the fold.

“With Block Party, we’ve made it as simple and as easy as possible for you to share your music,” said Rory Dooley, general manager of Ultimate Ears. “Through the app, we make our already awesome speakers better over time as we continue to unlock more ways for you to get the most from your speaker, from Double Up to Tap Controls and now, Block Party.”

Along with Block Party, the app enhancement also adds Tap Controls to Megaboom speakers. The popular feature allows users to play, pause, and skip songs by just tapping the top of their Boom 2 or Megaboom. The updates add to the UE speakers’ already long list of practical capabilities, including the ability to set a speaker as an alarm clock, pairing with an additional UE speaker using Double Up, custom tuning via the five-band equalizer, and turning speakers on or off remotely.

By updating its apps, UE has continued its push to allow users to continue to enhance the listening experience, long after they’ve already brought their speakers home.

Dlyan Wireless Headphones

High-resolution audio, hi-res audio, or even HD audio -- whatever you decide to call it (for the record, the industry prefers "hi-res audio"), it's a catch-all term that describes digital audio that goes above and beyond the level of sound quality you can expect from a garden-variety MP3 file and even CDs. It was once strictly the domain of audiophiles, but now that major streaming music services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, and Qobuz have embraced it, almost everyone can take advantage of what hi-res has to offer.

But what exactly is hi-res audio? What equipment do you need to listen to it? Where can you download or stream it? And does it actually sound better? We've got the answers.
What does the term 'hi-res audio' mean?

How to download music from Spotify for offline listening
How to download music and podcasts from Spotify: The downloads folder.

If you're a Spotify Premium user paying that premium Spotify fee, chances are you've taken at least some time curating playlists, liking songs, and using the platform's easy-to-use (and recently revamped) user interface to discover new and old music.

But sometimes all that music or your favorite podcasts aren't available if you find yourself without an internet connection to stream them from — like on a long plane ride or weekend camping trip in the sticks. That's where Spotify's offline listening feature comes in handy, allowing you to download playlists, albums, and podcasts through its desktop and mobile apps so you can still rock out while you're off the grid.
