Here’s all the new music out in December 2016

In the fast-paced era of streaming releases, it can be hard enough knowing when your favorite bands are putting out new tunes, let alone trying to keep up with fresh new artists. To help you on your quest for excellent new music, we’ve put together a curated list of upcoming album releases. While you can easily spend the final days of 2016 scouring year-end lists for new tracks, a few new records will finally hit store shelves this month. As usual, December is a great month for fans of classic artists, with a number of them bolstering their already extensive catalogs with new releases just ahead of the new year.

Fans of hip-hop and soul have a few interesting albums to look forward to, with fresh new music from Chidish Gambino, John Legend, and Yasiin Bey (formerly know as Mos Def) to listen to early in the month.

Those on the hunt for more guitar-laden music should find plenty to enjoy in Pete Doherty and Neil Young’s upcoming albums, both of which offer longtime listeners some interesting concepts to chew on. Speaking of longtime listeners, electronic musician Deadmau5 will release his latest sounds at the beginning of the month, where it will likely be picked apart and remixed by his obsessive listenership en masse by the end of the year.
