8 HTC Desire Eye cases to keep your selfie smartphone safe

Add as a preferred source on Google

If you can’t stop photographing yourself then the HTC Desire Eye, with its dual 13-megapixel cameras, could be a real temptation. This mid-range, super-selfie smartphone is tough enough to survive a dunk, but a drop onto a hard surface could be the end of it. The matte, polycarbonate body is tough, but it’s also slippery. You really need to protect that 5.2-inch screen. Behold the best HTC Desire Eye cases money can buy.

Body Glove Satin Case ($18)

Starting out in wetsuits, Body Glove knows how to make something tough and water-resistant. The Satin is one of their slim everyday cases, but it can handle a dunk, absorb the shock of a fall, and it has antimicrobial protection built-in. The textured sides add grip, the cut-outs are precise for uninterrupted access to features, buttons, and ports. The brushed aluminum effect for the back panel adds a touch of class.

Case-Mate Naked Tough Case ($30)

Minimalism is the idea behind this slim, completely transparent case. The HTC Desire Eye’s design is allowed to shine through. The only details are the chrome button covers, the Case-Mate name down the side, and the small logo on the back. It may be lightweight, but it doesn’t scrimp on protection. It comes in two pieces and the hard shell is tough, supported by a bumper that can absorb shock. Precise cut-outs allow you to access and use the ports and camera.

OtterBox Defender Series Case ($50)

This rugged case is designed to keep your HTC Desire Eye safe from bumps, scratches, drops, and whatever else life may throw at it. There are three layers of protection with internal foam, a polycarbonate shield, and a rubber exterior. You’ll also find a built-in screen protector, button covers, and port plugs. There’s a holster with belt clip that doubles as a stand. It is a bit chunky, especially at the front round the screen, but it will keep your phone pristine. It comes in black or rose.

Amzer Pudding Case ($8)

You can’t really argue this case is much of a looker, but it does two things well and it’s very cheap. It’s made of malleable TPU, so it’s super easy to fit and it will absorb some shock from bumps and falls. It’s also textured to add some much needed grip, so you’re less likely to drop it in the first place. You’ve got accurate openings for the camera and ports, and there are covers for the buttons. Bit may be basic, but it’s effective.

Terrapin Gel Case ($6)

They don’t come much cheaper than this basic TPU case from Terrapin. It’s very thin and very flexible. There are openings for the ports and camera, but the buttons are covered. There’s also a slight bevel on the front to protect the screen. This isn’t a rugged case, but it will guard against scuffs and small drops if you’re lucky. The finish comes in black or pink, there’s no logo or other markings, and it’s glossy and slightly translucent.

HTC Dot View Case ($50)

Set to land this month is a version of HTC’s unusual Dot View case for the Desire Eye. It has a dot matrix pattern on the front that allows you to take calls, get notifications, and check the weather without opening the case. There’s a dedicated app, so you can configure it the way you want. We expect the Desire Eye version will have a cut-out for that front-facing selfie camera as well. It does also have reinforced corners to protect against drops. You can get it in black, blue, orange, or red.

HTC Selfie Stand ($25)

This is a simple case that’s designed to take full advantage of the Desire Eye’s selfie capabilities. There’s a wedge cut-out at the back that’s hinged, so you can swing it open and prop the phone in landscape or portrait views. Now you can capture shots and video without danger of wobble, and it will be good for watching videos, too. Generous cut-outs provide full access to everything and there’s an HTC logo on the fold-out stand.

Krucel Leather Sleeve ($35)

Fancy a leather sleeve for your HTC Desire Eye? These are handmade in the USA using American leather from the Herman Oak Tannery in Missouri. You can choose the exterior color you want; there are nine shades of dye in all. You can also select custom stampings for the outside to add a bit of character. The sleeves are fully lined with secure stitching, and there are brass clips at the top to ensure durability.

That’s all the HTC Desire Eye cases we’ve got for today, but check back because we’ll add new prospects to this roundup as and when we discover them.

Pixel 11 continues Google’s seven-year spare-parts support as phone prices climb
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

The Pixel 11 series has plenty of new hardware and software features to talk about, but one detail that stood out to me has actually been around for a few generations.

Google is continuing its seven-year spare-parts commitment with the Pixel 11 series, a policy it first introduced with the Pixel 8 back in 2023. It means batteries, displays, and other replacement components should remain available long after the usual upgrade cycle has come and gone.

Google’s hyped-up RGB HiLight on the Pixel 11 Pro had me excited for nothing
Google’s cleverest new hardware might also be its biggest missed opportunity.
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

I have been following rumors about Google’s new HiLight feature long before the company even announced its name. A few weeks ago, reports spoke about the feature as Google’s AI interface, something that glows when users speak to Gemini.

Now that the company has wrapped the Pixel 11 launch event, everything’s out in the open, and one of the only two things it does is light up when you speak to Gemini. So, after all the speculations and build-up, Google’s big reveal is… basically the same thing we thought it was, and I have some strong thoughts about that.

Galaxy phones may finally get a basic privacy feature Samsung missed
One UI 9.5 could let you lock an app without jumping through hoops
Computer, Electronics, Tablet Computer

Samsung gives Galaxy owners an impressive amount of control over their phones. Features like Good Lock let users customize just about every aspect of their smartphones. But somehow, the company forgot to put a simple alaxy owners an almost ridiculous amount of control over their phones. Somehow, simply adding a fingerprint lock for apps.

With the One UI 9.5 update, this might finally change. Tipster Fahad Ali Javed has uncovered a native App Lock feature inside an unreleased One UI 9.5 build running on a Galaxy S26. So you would be able to secure individual apps directly from the app drawer without moving them somewhere else first. This could be one of One UI 9.5's simplest and most useful additions.
