Twitter goes nuts over Chance the Rapper's new mixtape, Coloring Book

Chance the Rapper has no hit records, has never sold a single album, and five years ago was suspended from Jones College Prep High School for 10 days for marijuana possession. Since denting the music landscape with the unexpected success of his 2013 mixtape Acid Rap, the 23-year-old MC from Chicago has landed guest spots on projects from Kanye West, Madonna, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Lil Wayne. He’s your favorite artist’s favorite “have you heard about?” artist.

His rhyme style is refreshingly malleable with a musical knowledge that has him belting out church hymns seconds after double-time rapping about vanquishing the devil. It’s been three years, but Chance has returned with his latest mixtape, Coloring Book, which features contributions from Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Justin Beiber, and 2 Chainz, among others. Its release Thursday on Apple Music and, briefly, DatPiff, has sent Twitter into its usual frenzy.

Meanwhile, Meta opened its own verification service earlier in the year, called Meta Verified.

Mostly aimed at “creators,” Meta Verified costs $15 a month and helps you “establish your account authenticity and help[s] your community know it’s the real us with a verified badge." It also gives you “proactive account protection” to help fight impersonation by (in part) requiring you to use two-factor authentication. You’ll also get direct account support “from a real person,” and exclusive features like stickers and stars.
