While the idea of going on a safari is for many folks an exciting one, the small matter of actually having to pay for the experience probably means it won’t be happening anytime soon.

Until you’ve scraped together the funds for the big trip, the next best thing could be to hit the Web and go on a virtual safari via that trusty all-seeing eye of the world – Street View.

Google’s tireless mapping team has just posted a set of new panoramic imagery snapped inside South Africa’s spectacular Kruger National Park.

“Catch a glimpse of a rhinoceros grazing the plains, an elephant enjoying a grassy snack, and a herd of buffalo charging against the wind,” Street View’s Sven Tresp trumpets on Google’s LatLong blog, adding, “You may even spot a leopard, who often remain elusive to tourists and locals alike.”

Google’s Street View cars first rolled into the African nation in 2010, and over the intervening years have been steadily collecting imagery from every corner of the country.

Alongside the new Kruger National Park collection, Street View has also added content showing off several of its other iconic destinations, including Table Mountain that serves as a dramatic backdrop for Cape Town, and the Cape of Good Hope at the very southern tip of the African continent.

“For the beach bums out there, South Africa is a must,” Tresp writes. “With Street View, you can watch the waves break at Sandy Bay, gaze at the clear blue sky and water at Clifton Beach, go parasailing at Sunset Beach or just take a long walk along Durban’s Golden Mile.”

Showcasing South Africa’s wonderfully diverse landscapes, the Street View team has helpfully compiled a collection of its best imagery from the nation, perfect for either your couch-based travels, or, if you’re lucky enough, for researching what’s certain to be a memorable real-life vacation in the Rainbow Nation.

It can be tough to keep up with what's happening online. You might even try several different ways, including visiting specific websites every day, doing Google searches, or relying on social media timelines and news feeds to keep yourself informed. But another solution that sometimes gets overlooked is an old-school one: The RSS feed.

What is an RSS feed? It's a technology that has influenced many modern internet tools you're familiar with, and its streamlined, algorithm-free format could make it your next great tool for reading what you want online.
What is RSS?
What RSS stands for depends on who you ask. The main consensus is that it stands for "Really Simple Syndication." But you may also hear that it stands for "Rich Site Summary."  At its heart though, RSS essentially refers to simple text files with necessary, updated information -- news pieces, articles, that sort of thing. That stripped-down content gets plugged into a feed reader, an interface that quickly converts the RSS text files into a stream of the latest updates from around the web.

Google Drive vs. Dropbox: which is best in 2024?
Google Drive in Chrome on a MacBook.

Google Drive and Dropbox are two of the most popular cloud storage providers, if not some of the best. They offer a range of exciting features, from secure file storage and transfer, to free storage, file syncing, extensions, chat-app integration, and more. But while they might go toe to toe on some cloud storage specifications, there are others where one is the clear winner. The question is, which one is the best in 2024?

Let's take a close look at Google Drive and Dropbox to see how their latest head to head turns out.
Google Drive wins the free storage battle
Both Dropbox and Google Drive offer free storage space for those who would like to try out their respective services before putting down a few dollars a month for something more expansive and permanent. Google Drive comes standard, with 15GB of free space, far more than Dropbox's initial free storage offering of just 2GB.
