Glamour shot of the HTC One leaks out ahead of special launch event

HTC One Leak Press ShotCheck out our full review of the HTC One smart phone.

It’s hard to imagine how the HTC One, formerly known as the HTC M7, could be leaked any more, but just hours before the event at which it’s expected to launch begins, a revealing glamor shot has been posted by French tech site NWE.

The photo shows the same phone we’ve seen before, only this time it gives us a better look at both the metallic silver color and the dark, almost matte black finish, which bears a striking resemblance to the color scheme used on the black Apple iPhone 5. The screen displays HTC Sense 5.0, the minimalistic new version of HTC’s Android user interface, which should also make its debut later today. A closer look at the screen shows today’s date, plus a London location, adding credibility to the picture as HTC will hold its event simultaneously in both the UK capital and New York City.

HTC One Leak Close UpThis presumably final leak joins the wealth of information already in the public domain concerning the HTC One. For example, we’re fully expecting the phone to have a 4.7-inch screen with a 1080p resolution, giving it an astonishing 468ppi pixel density, plus a clever PureView-style camera which will replace megapixels with Ultrapixels. The latest version of Android seems logical, as does Beats Audio (spot the logo on the rear of the black phone in the picture) and a quad-core processor.

We even have an idea of when the HTC One will go on sale and how much it will cost. Just a few days ago, a report claimed the phone would be priced at $200 for the 32GB model with a two-year contract, while the 64GB version would require another $100 to be invested. Following its announcement, the phone could go on sale in the U.S. on March 22 though AT&T and T-Mobile. International launch dates weren’t provided, but as this phone is set to replace the One X and One X+ as HTC’s leading Android smartphone, Europe and the rest of the world should expect it around the same time, if not a little earlier.

HTC’s launch event is set to begin at 10am EST today, February 19, and we’ll bring you all the news as it happens.

Google has no idea what it’s doing with the Pixel Tablet
The back of the Google Pixel Tablet.

With its latest move to try and encourage you to buy a Pixel Tablet, Google has unfortunately indicated it still has no idea what to do with its most recent return to tablets.

Its big plan to sell more tablets is to take away the best thing about them, which then gives it an excuse to charge a bit less. Reducing the price is a good thing, but in the case of the Pixel Tablet and Google's solution, there’s sadly no longer any reason to buy it at all.
