Driver smashes through glass-fronted Apple store in Chicago, one injury reported

To the best of our knowledge Apple hasn’t yet opened any drive-thru stores, though that didn’t stop a motorist in Chicago from entering one of its premises in a car on Sunday evening.

A Chicago Tribune report said the incident occurred at Apple’s Lincoln Park store in Chicago at about 6.30pm, adding that one person was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The driver of the car was described as “elderly”.

Twitter user @RGR3 posted a photo (below) of the scene minutes after the car smashed through the store’s glass front.

According to witnesses, the car reportedly came through the front entrance “and made it about four or five feet inside, where it seemed to turn and rested near display cases holding headphones and other accessories.”

Looking at the carnage, it’s easy to imagine a fair few Apple products bought it. The car’ll probably need a lick of paint, too. Thankfully though, no one appears to have been seriously injured in the accident.

MediaTek has typically played second fiddle to Qualcomm, at least when it comes to flagship Android phones in the U.S. But that may be set to change if the latest leak about the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is to be believed. The news comes via Weibo from leaker Digital Chat Station and reveals that MediaTek is using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm N3E node, which should result in 34% lower power consumption. The Dimensity 9400 is expected to have MT6991 as its model number and keep the same large core structure as the Dimensity 9300.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is getting a much-needed battery upgrade

Battery life on the Galaxy Z Flip series has always been subpar. In fact, we dinged the Galaxy Z Flip 5 for its mediocre battery life in our review, saying: “If I take the Flip 5 off the charger at 7 a.m., it’s not uncommon to have less than 10% battery by 9 p.m. that evening.” We made similar comments about the Z Flip 4 and Z Flip 3, which could only last one day at best and not really a full day at that.

It seems Samsung is finally taking this to heart and is planning on bumping up the battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. According to a leak from MySmartPrice, the Z Flip 6 (model number SM-F741U) has passed through Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification, and it will come with a dual cell 1,097mAh battery paired with a 2,790mAh battery, for a total of 3,887mAh (4,000mAh on the marketing material). That’s an increase from the Z Flip 5, which came with a 971mAh cell paired with a 2,620mAh cell, for a total of 3,591mAh that Samsung marketed as 3,700mAh.
