Sony Intros New Cyber-shot T-Series Cameras

Sony has introduced the Cyber-shot T700 and T77 Cyber-shot cameras, keeping the line's slim form factor and colorful designs.

Sony has introduced its new Cyber-shot T700 and T77 digital cameras, both keeping the T-series traditional super-slim designs and sporting intelligent photography functions designed to appeal to everyday camera users.

“Sony is taking the lead in developing “intelligent” cameras so that taking great pictures is an automatic function and not a complicated process,” said Sony Electronics’ director of digital camera marketing Phil Lubell, in a statement. “This is part of our effort to enhance the camera experience for customers by offering new functionality.”

The entry-level T77 replaces the existing T70 model, offering a 10.1 megapixel resolution, a 3-inch LCD touchscreen interface, a 4× optical zoom, plus face detection, a smile shutter mode (to catch people when they’re smiling), and a new Anti-blink feature that promised to catch people with their eyes open. (I don’t know about you, but I can’t smile without blinking, so Sony may have invented a camera that’s incapable of photographing me.) The T77 offers sensitivities down to ISO 3,200, using Memory Stick Pro storage, and sports 1080i HD video output for putting images on a big screen TV. The T77 should be available in silver, green, brown, pink, and black in late September for about $300.

The T700 includes all the features of the T77, with the addition of 4 GB of internal memory and a 3.5-inch LCD display. They’ll be available at the same time as the T77 in red, gold, pink, silver, and dark grey for about $400.
